Pousada Solar Azul sits in the historic center of Lençóis, in a charming old house with a garden full of plants and birds. The town's main restaurants, bars, cafés, shops, markets and pharmacies are all within walking distance.
We have six rooms, each with its own style, for up to 19 guests total. All rooms have air conditioning, a Smart TV, a mini-fridge and a private bathroom with hot water. It's a simple, charming guesthouse in a great location.

Chapada Diamantina isn't set up quite like national parks in Europe, the US, or Australia — and knowing this before you arrive makes a real difference in how you plan your days.
Chapada Diamantina National Park has no ranger stations, marked trailheads, or visitor infrastructure at each attraction the way some parks abroad do. Most of what you'll see and do is organized informally, through local guides and agencies — not through a park office.
The waterfalls, canyons and viewpoints you've seen on Instagram are spread across a large rural area, often 30–100km from Lençóis on unpaved roads. Public transport doesn't reach them. Most visitors go with a local guide who drives, rather than renting a car themselves.
Trails aren't marked or fenced, weather changes fast, and some routes cross private land or require local knowledge to navigate safely. We strongly recommend hiring a guide for any trail or waterfall visit, not only the multi-day treks.
Lençóis has only one bank branch (Banco do Brasil), and many foreign-issued cards can't withdraw cash there. Most places accept cards, but it's worth carrying some Brazilian Reais for tour extras, small shops, or emergencies.
Most guests stay around 3 nights — we'd recommend 5 if you can. Chapada Diamantina rewards a slower pace: the best experiences here are rarely rushed.

Our breakfast has its own identity. We serve homemade breads, jams and cakes, original recipes, and traditional Northeastern Brazilian flavors you won't want to miss. There's always something new to discover! We want it to be a delicious way to start the day tasting a bit of our culture — everything is prepared with real care.

Ask any hiker who's done it, and they'll tell you: Vale do Pati is considered the most beautiful multi-day trek in Brazil. It's not a groomed trail with signage every few meters — it's a remote valley inside the National Park, reachable only on foot, where a handful of local families still live much as they always have. No phone signal. A few solar panels for light. Rivers and waterfalls to swim in, open grasslands, dramatic peaks, and views that change completely every few hours of walking.
The classic route is 3 days and 2 nights, covering around 42km — a real physical challenge, and part of what makes it rewarding. If you have the time, we recommend 5 days and 4 nights instead: enough to actually rest between days, disconnect properly, and take in the valley rather than rush through it.
You'll sleep and eat in the homes of the families who live inside the valley — breakfast and dinner with them, lunch on the trail. Getting food and supplies into Pati isn't simple: there's no road, so everything the families serve you has to be carried in. That's part of why the trek isn't cheap — but when you break down what's actually included (transport, a guide, all lodging, all three meals a day), it compares well against other multi-day treks around the world.
A guide is required, for safety and because the route isn't marked for solo hiking. We organize the whole thing through our partner agency, Chapada por Elas — from your arrival in Salvador, through the trek itself, to your return. Just ask us.
Best time to go: most of the year works well. If you're coming from Europe, July and August (our winter) is when most international travelers visit — cooler days, comfortable for hiking. The one period we'd flag to avoid if possible: the second half of November into early December, historically our rainiest stretch.
Looking for something even more demanding? Two rugged camping treks inside the National Park go further — sleeping under the stars, no lodging, just a tent and the wild: Fumaça Waterfall from Below (36km, 2 nights, one of the toughest treks in Brazil) and Cachoeira do Mixila (12km, 1 night, a shorter taste of the same wild terrain). Most international travelers arrive through Salvador (SSA), Brazil's main gateway to this region. Here's how to plan the trip from there.
Salvador's international airport is the most common entry point — 420km from Lençóis by road (about 6 hours). Vitória da Conquista (VDC) is a smaller alternative airport, also 420km away. We can arrange a private transfer from either airport: just ask when you book.
Azul Airlines operates direct flights to Lençóis' small airport on Thursdays and Sundays — worth checking if the dates line up with your trip. The airport is 20km from town and we arrange the transfer.
From Salvador, the main routes into the Chapada Diamantina tourist area are BR-242 (toward Lençóis, Palmeiras and the surrounding area) and BA-142 (toward Ibicoara, Mucugê, Andaraí and the surrounding area). Roads are paved but can be poorly marked in places — see our note on planning your trip above.
Guanabara operates buses from Salvador's bus terminal, departing at 8am, 1pm and 11pm, taking 6–8 hours. Buses from Lençóis back to Salvador leave at 9am, 1:30pm and 11pm. This is a budget-friendly, if slower, option — most seats are reasonably comfortable reclining seats. Message us and we're happy to help you figure out the best way to get here.

Chapada Diamantina is a region in the state of Bahia, Brazil, 420km from the capital, Salvador. It's a large geographic area — about 38,000 km² — and at its center sits Chapada Diamantina National Park, 1,520 km² of protected land managed by ICMBio (Brazil's environmental agency). The most-visited tourist area surrounds the National Park, spanning parts of seven municipalities: Lençóis, Palmeiras, Andaraí, Mucugê, Itaetê, Iramaia and Ibicoara. Beyond the National Park, the region also includes other protected areas, like the Marimbus-Iraquara Environmental Protection Area. Lençóis is the most complete gateway for exploring all of this — and Pousada Solar Azul sits right in the town's historic center, ready to be your home base.

We don't have a private parking lot. Guests park on the street, either right in front or on a nearby street. Lençóis is a quiet town and we've never had issues with guests' vehicles. During holidays and high season, you may need to park a block away.

Cash can only be withdrawn at the Banco do Brasil branch or the Caixa Econômica Federal lottery agency. There are no other-bank ATMs. Many foreign-issued cards aren't able to withdraw at these — see our note on this above. At the guesthouse, you can pay by card or cash.
Yes. If you arrive on the first bus, around 5:30am, you're welcome to wait in the garden and common areas until your room is ready. We store luggage for free. Breakfast for early arrivals is R$ 40 per person, and a shower is R$ 10 per person. Just let us know in advance.
